Other things making news: When the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts marks its one-year anniversary with a news conference today, many of the top officials who prepared the downtown Orlando venue for its 2014 ribbon-cutting will be nowhere in sight. [More] One of Central Florida's few remaining movie rental stores, Video News, has shut down in Longwood. Owner Steve Nguyen closed the store after 25 years of renting Blu-rays, DVDs and videocassettes in an industry that was booming before automated kiosks and streaming video. [More] A SunRail collision in Winter Park that injured 10 people last month occurred when the commuter train hit a dump truck parked too close to the tracks on property leased by Winter Park Mayor Steve Leary and his partners. The Florida Department of Transportation has since ordered Leary's company, Lumberyard, LLC, to stop any work going on at the site.
