I'm Alfred Charles, online content manager for OrlandoSentinel.com. Here are some top stories I don't want you to miss today. Send me an email and let me know what you think.

Good morning. It's Monday, Feb. 29. The movie "Spotlight" won the Academy Award for best film of 2015 last night at the Oscars, while Leonardo DiCaprio won his first best actor Oscar. But TV writer Hal Boedeker says that while host Chris Rock rolled with topical humor, the Oscar show just lumbered along: "Hey, academy, you won't have a future if you keep boring people." Also Disney World will soon charge more for one-day visits during the busiest times of year. See photos of Academy Awards red carpet, show and backstage. Here's what else is happening in Central Florida. Have a great day.

Making SeaWorld's Mako Into a shark-smooth roller coaster Making SeaWorld's Mako Into a shark-smooth roller coaster

Movies
Oscar parties at Enzian, Cinematique Oscar parties at Enzian, Cinematique

Every year Hollywood gets together in their most expensive, Marie Antionette-ish garments to pat themselves on the back for being superfamous and making tons of money, and then cap it all off by giving the awards to the movies no one saw. And for some reason this can be really fun to watch, especially in a crowd.

Finally, another decent sports movie--about ski jump? Finally, another decent sports movie--about ski jump?

Underdog sports movies like "Invincible" or "Miracle" almost never get points for originality. Person (or team) wants to succeed, everyone says person won’t, person doesn’t give up, person eventually has varying degree of victory. That’s the plotline, and it’s borderline pointless to complain about the formula.
