Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is reassigning the case of slain St. Cloud mother Nicole Montalvo to Ocala-based State Attorney Brad King, amid a public dispute between Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson and Orange-Osceola State Attorney Aramis Ayala.

Orange County deputy abused woman, threatened her with gun, investigation finds

An Orange County Sheriff's Office internal investigation found a former deputy sheriff repeatedly battered and threatened the life of a woman. He was arrested on the allegations in July but criminal charges were dropped. Deputy Brett Bailey has since been fired from OCSO.

Fire consumes Bithlo mobile home, first responders save family pets

Though a fire destroyed a Bithlo mobile home while its tenants were away Friday afternoon, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Office saved two of the family's pets, a 10-month-old kitten and a chicken.

Wyndham, ABC wine join other companies halting donations to scholarships that go to anti-LGBTQ schools

Wyndam Destinations and ABC Wine Fine and Spirits announced this week they would not donate to Florida's largest school voucher program again until it included safeguards to prevent discrimination against gay and transgender students. Several banks, an insurance firm and Rosen Hotels also have said they would not contribute to the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship program again unless they knew money would not go to private schools with anti-gay policies.

Boone, West Orange wins Legends semifinals | Basketball Report

Host Boone and West Orange used defense to win semifinal games in the Honoring Legends Invitational at Boone High School. Elsewhere, unbeaten Montverde Academy ran its record to 24-0 and both Ocoee and Jones High maintained winning streaks. Trinity Prep sophomore Javon Bennett scored the 1,000th point of his career.

District championships for boys and girls soccer, day two of the Honoring Legends Invitational where Riley Kugel scored 22 points to lead CFCA to the championship game tomorrow night and other scores from around the Orlando area. Javon Bennett scored his 1,000th career point for Trinity Prep.
