Sentinel Sports Final

Saturday, September 28, 2024

The wait is over. Colorado-UCF is here. The Knights are favored. See why. ... The Hurricanes are going deep. I know, they struggled against Virginia Tech, but Georgia struggled to win by one point vs. Kentucky a few weeks ago. Every championship-level team survives a scare and pulls out a miraculous game. The 12-team playoff makes a loss less impactful, of course, but Cam Ward winning the Heisman can be tipped by the regular-season record. Everyone likes to see the 0 in the loss column to bolster their position ... 1 more goal for Barbra Banda, who missed four games because of visa issues, and she'll surpass Marta (13) for most goals in a single season with the Pride. And given the opponent is Houston, she might double her total goals ... FSU is in danger of getting embarrassed if they're not careful. ACC newcomer SMU can score. FSU couldn't score with Madonna. The defense has to play lights out otherwise the offense can 't keep pace and they're right back to where they were before the win over Cal. ... The NCAA, which I know from personal experience during my time in Indy, was never prepared for NIL and the fallout and is demanding Congress save them doing their jobs. Congress should respond: "We'll help clean this mess up for you, but after we're done we wish you well in your future endeavors." Why does the NCAA exist if it doesn't have the foresight or backbone to govern? How can they justify their own paychecks with such an ask? This is what your company looks like when it had no plans in place or a single contingency for NIL. Sounds like a you problem. The NCAA failed to lead on the issue.
