Disney beats estimates on earnings, misses slightly on revenue

Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger told analysts Tuesday that he was pleased with the company's performance, which was a mixed bag. Disney reported a profit of $2.5 billion, compared with $2.2 billion the previous year. The company surpassed analysts' expectations on earning but missed them on revenue for Q3. [More]

New ordinance curtails towing by estimated 40 percent in Orange County

The data is probably good news to motorists who have fewer worries about having their vehicles towed while parked. County towing companies were forced to change their practices last November after the county approved new rules designed to curb predatory towing and lessen the headaches for unlucky motorists whose vehicles were seized. 10-day sales-tax holiday begins Friday

Shoppers start your engines! The state's annual sales-tax holiday starts this Friday and runs for 10 days, a break that will give shoppers  a 6-7 percent discount on top of back-to-school sales typically offered by retailers. Florida shoppers won't pay sales tax on most clothes and shoes under $100 or computers that cost less than $750. Cops: Neighbor in fear for life shot teen he saw burglarizing home

The Lake County Sheriff's Office says a teen was apparently burglarizing a home in the Grand Island neighborhood when he was confronted by a resident who lives in the area. [More]
