Attorney suing FAMU in fatal hazing barred from practicing law in Florida

The revelation about Christopher Chestnut's ability to practice law in Florida raises questions about the ongoing litigation against FAMU in the fatal hazing of drum major Robert Champion. Chestnut is the lead counsel for the drum major's estate and for Champion's parents, Robert and Pamela Champion. But he was declared "ineligible" to practice law in Florida in June.  [More]

Orlando-to-Miami train gets key vote to move forward

A state board has given its approval to permit the 235-mile train system to borrow nearly $1.75 billion at a low interest and tax-exempt rate. The 3-0 decision by the Florida Development Finance Commission greatly increases the likelihood that the South Florida-based transit operation will have its trains running in South Florida by early 2017 and into Orlando by late 2017.
