FWC: 8-foot-long king cobra escapes from Orlando home

In what could be described as someone's worst nightmare, state wildlife officials are looking for a venomous eight-foot long king cobra snake that is said to be on the loose in a west Orlando neighborhood. The green and yellow snake, which is not native to Central Florida, escaped within the last day from its cage in a house near the 4800 block of North Apopka Vineland Road. [More]

Florida school tops list of best community colleges

A recent WalletHub study examined 670 community colleges across the country and found that a Florida school ranked best overall. The Sunshine State also landed at No. 5 for states with the best community college systems.[More]

320 bears approved to be killed in Florida hunt

Despite a pending court challenge, the Florida wildlife commission has approved a plan to set limits on the number of bears that can be killed during state-sanctioned hunts. The panel voted 3-2 Wednesday to approve a quota of 320 black bears killed during a one-week hunt next month. [More]

Doc Rivers: Scott Skiles is a "wonderful coach" and will have Magic in playoff contention

Count former Orlando Magic coach Doc Rivers as a big fan of current Magic coach Scott Skiles. "I think he's a wonderful coach," said, Doc, the highly respected head coach of the L.A.
