It's rare for Mayor Buddy Dyer to appoint from outside of the city's umbrella. But it happened Monday. The city council OK'd Dyer's appointment of Benjamin Barksdale as its new fire chief. Barksdale comes to Orlando from George's County, Md., where he oversaw the nation's largest fire and EMS staff.
Three months ago, 19-year-old Johnny Brummit of Orlando was at the White House, shaking hands with President Donald and talking about how his life had changed. Now he's in the Orange County jail, facing charges of attempted felony murder. His supporters say they're heartbroken.
