Florida coronavirus update for Sunday: State buys potential drug treatment; US death toll closes in on 2,200

As the state's coronavirus death toll reached 56 by Saturday evening, with 4,038 cases, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that Florida hospitals — including in Orange County — will soon receive shipments for a drug President Trump has called a possible treatment for COVID-19. Also, the U.S. death toll approached 2,200 on Sunday with over 124,000 cases.

Holland cruise ship with dead aboard gets OK to head toward Fort Lauderdale

Holland America's Zaandam, with dozens of coronavirus patients on board, is anchored outside the Panama Canal. Holland did not say when the ship could get to Fort Lauderdale.
