Florida coronavirus update for Wednesday: Second deadliest day for state with 60 new victims

Soon after Gov. Ron DeSantis boasted that Florida avoided a public health disaster in its fight against coronavirus, the state had its second-highest death toll. Florida now has 28,576 coronavirus cases and 927 fatalities. 

Congress to keep small business loans for big hotels, restaurants

Congress is expected to pass a bill Thursday that would plow another $310 billion into the Paycheck Protection Program fund after the program burned through $350 billion in less than two weeks. But the new legislation does not change a controversial part of the program that has allowed a number of larger hotel and restaurant companies to claim multiple loans and sidestep what some lawmakers say was supposed to be a $10 million-per-company cap. 

Orange task force: Masks, temperature checks likely to remain through summer as Orlando tries to reopen
