Sentinel Sports Final

Wednesday, March 6, 2024

The Magic are 10 games over .500 and play a nine-win team tonight. Still, this season is going down to the wire because less than two games separate the No. 4 seed (homecourt advantage in the first round) from No. 8 (a matchup/beatdown from East alpha Boston). ... Orlando City and Tigres drawing is nothing new. Except this time Tigres didn't get an away goal, the difference-maker in last year's Round of 16 that eliminated the Lions. A 1-1 tie in the second leg, for instance, next week would advance Orlando City in Champions Cup play. ... It appears the Gators are really good at home (14-1) after blitzing No. 16 Bama. Except in the NCAA tournament, there are no true home games. ... UCF hosts a No. 1 team for the first time. That's the good news. The bad news is it's the Houston Cougars, who defend as if their NIL checks depend on it. Easily the most aggressive bunch in college basketball. Must have good guard play because they will trap off every ballscreen and force the ball out of the operational zone for the offense. The Knights have 4 vs. 3 behind the trap. The trick is getting the ball there for that numbers edge to matter. Seems easy. But it's not. ... Bay Hill is getting underway aka The Arnie. Bogeys might be as plentiful as UCF turnovers against Houston.
