| | If you're one of those people who complain about NBA not being top quality -- Magic-Cavs series aside -- then you're not watching these playoffs. The Sixers-Knicks, Pacers-Bucks, Mavs-Clippers and Lakers-Nuggets are making for great TV. The Mavs-Clippers series, by the way, is what a 4-5 matchup should look like. Either team can win any game. Hear that, Magic? ... If a Michael Penix-caliber QB is still on the board when the Bucs draft, should they take a QB anyway? It's not like drafting running backs or receivers year after year after year (see the Jags for the latter). If you have a shot at what you think could be a franchise-shifting QB, why wouldn't you? If your current QB (Mayfield) doesnt like it, to quote Capt. Ellerby from The Departed: "The world needs a lotta bartenders!" ... The Lightning went down 2-0, tied it and had multiple chances to take the lead but there was some spectacular goaltending both ways. You can ride that kind of play to the Stanley Cup. ... The NBA concludes in its last two-minute report that Tyrese Maxey was fouled TWICE at the end of Game 2 at Madison Square Garden on a turnover that gave the Knicks the lead (and winning shot). The idea that you "let them play" in the final sequence of a game -- in ways you don't allow in the previous 46 minutes -- is preposterious. Maxey was slapped around like Curly by Larry and Moe (Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart). Thanks for the transparency, but unless replay fixes the call right that moment what's the point? | | Despite scoring being a premium in their first-round series, the Magic feel confident about their ability to protect homecourt against the Cavs. "It's on us to go home and do what we're supposed to do," Joe Ingles said. | | | Among baseball winners were Olympia, Lake Brantley, Wekiva, Foundation Academy and Oviedo. Lake Nona added a girls softball win. | | | Billy Napier's first week in the transfer portal was quieter, but time remains for the Gators to fill some gaps. | | | It was the fifth OT winner in Carter Verhaeghe's career, coming on a play where Matthew Tkachuk got the puck to Anton Lundell — who found Verhaeghe. He waited for Tampa Bay goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy to commit, then put the puck over him to end it | | | As the Dolphins' five-year plan enters a sixth year, the demand for better decisions in the front office becomes increasingly important. Can Chris Grier do better? | | | The right-hander gets through six strong innings, but the Rays only manage Isaac Paredes' two-run homer. | | | The Bucs love Tampa Bay's Michael Penix Jr., one of six QBs who could go in the first round Thursday. | | | The league also says 76ers coach Nick Nurse was attempting to call a timeout that was "neither recognized nor granted by the officials" at the start of the possession. | | | Damian Lillard didn't get enough help with the Bucks once again missing two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo due to a strained left calf. Antetokounmpo hasn't played since he was hurt in an April 9 victory over the Celtics. | | | They fought. Give them that. Give them all of it. Were the Sixers better in Game 2? Are they better overall? Even if they are, do they really have the wherewithal to pull off the impossible? | | | Before Jamal Murray ripped out the Lakers' hearts, Aaron Gordon reached in and smothered their soul. | | | JC Deacon's 14th-ranked Gators sit behind six SEC teams at the conference championship: No. 1 Auburn, No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 5 Ole Miss, No. 7 Tennessee, No. 10 Alabama and No. 12 Arkansas. | | | |
