Good morning. It's Wednesday, Jan. 3. Could our top story be anything else except the weather? Several Central Florida counties have opened cold-weather shelters, and while it might not snow here, the temperatures will drop plenty far enough to send a big chill through us all.

Meanwhile, a bill introduced in the Florida Legislature would give the right to regulate short-term vacation rentals, such as Airbnb, to the state.
