I'm Steve Ruiz, online content editor for OrlandoSentinel.com. Friday's here, and what's not to like about that? While looking ahead to the weekend, we hope you'll take a look back at some of our top stories. Send me an email and let me know what you think.

Good morning. It's Friday, Feb. 23. We start with the police officer assigned to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, who resigned after it was revealed he did not confront the shooter who killed 17 people last week.

Then we go to Sentinel columnist Scott Maxwell, who reminds us that, despite bad news seemingly all around us, there is good in the world, and no one epitomized that more than Mr. Rogers.

Our latest Orlando Sentinel Conversations podcast is with UFC fighter Josh Emmett. You can listen to it here.
