Good morning! It's Friday, March 5 and I'm Patrick Connolly, a multimedia journalist with the Orlando Sentinel's Things to Do team. It's a big weekend for Central Florida festivals. The Florida Strawberry Festival is kicking off in Plant City with family-friendly fun and plenty of strawberry-inspired dishes. At the same time, the 109th Central Florida Fair in Orlando is open daily through March 14 with fried food, midway rides and carnival games. Beginning today, Daytona Bike Week rumbles into Daytona Beach for its 80th annual event. To mark the anniversary, I took a look back at the storied history of the event and learned it hasn't always been the well-organized, international festival visitors know today.
