Florida Supreme Court reversal on unanimous juries throws death penalty cases into limbo

Bessman Okafor, who was sentenced to die for killing a 19-year-old witness set to testify against him in 2012, was among six local death row inmates whose re-sentencing hearings were thrown into limbo last week by a ruling from the Florida Supreme Court.In a major reversal, justices on the state's highest court said their predecessors "got it wrong" when they mandated that juries unanimously agree when recommending a judge sentence someone to death.

UCF to fire 3 faculty members accused of helping student get PhD in exchange for grants
