A longtime Walt Disney World worker who greeted guests at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort with handmade leis and sometimes gave hula lessons has died. Kau'I Brandt — known to many people as Aunty Kau'I — was 87.
Carola Luciano was working hard to be independent. The 25-year-old recently moved into a new apartment and had dreams of becoming a model, getting her driver's license and going back to school.But her future was cut short Dec. 13, when someone in a white pickup truck crashed into the Dodge Challenger she was in at the intersection of Curry Ford Road and Semoran Boulevard and then fired shots into the car, killing her and wounding two others. The shooter then drove off erratically toward Orlando International Airport, police said.
