3 dead, including gunman, 9 wounded in Louisiana movie theater shooting

The unthinkable has happened again, this time in Louisiana. A lone gunman sitting in a packed movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana stood up about 20 minutes into the showing of "Trainwreck" and began firing into the crowd, killing two and wounding at least nine others Thursday night before fatally shooting himself, authorities said. The incident took place a week after a man who shot and killed 12 people at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo., was convicted in the crime. [More]

Delta IV rocket delivers powerful military satellite into orbit

People along the Space Coast were able to see the Delta IV rocket launch into space with a plume of white smoke as it ascended into the heavens. The United Launch Alliance rocket was lifted up on more than a million and a half pounds of thrust at 8:07 p.m. ET into clear skies. It was the seventh Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS7) mission for the U.S. Air Force. [More]

UCF's pitch for downtown campus put on hold

Deputies: Suspect in House of Blues rape case arrested

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on accusations that he raped a woman behind the House of Blues at Downtown Disney last week, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office. Hector Herrera was arrested at his Osceola County home on a warrant and taken to the county jail before posting bond Thursday night.
