Sentinel Sports Final

Friday, May 12, 2023

For a long time, it could've been argued that the Jagars weren't worthy of being called a pro sports franchise and UF was an SEC power. Now the Jags, an actual credible franchise by the grace of Urban Meyer's departure, could be calling The Swamp their temporary home. How times have changed. The Jags used to be so bad that Billy Napier would've preferred paying Jaden Rashada $13 million ... Nikola Jokic, two-time NBA MVP who arguably could've won his third this season, is in the conference finals. Joel Embiid, who deserved to win it this season, has to go to a Game 7 in the East. If he can't elevate the Sixers beyond the semis, yet again, the talking head debate will start all over again about who really deserved MVP. "Did Jokic get robbed?" For the umpteenth time: MVP is a regular season award for 82 games. You can play 4 different teams a week, 4 different scouting reports, deal with the dreaded load management and build up to the playoffs. The postseason is a different beast. One opponent. Each team knows the other's play calls. Every game is different. Benches factor more into outcomes. Defensive schemes are more complex. But never fear, talking heads won 't miss a chance to fuel the conflict in the name of social media engagement if Jokic goes deeper than Embiid. TEAM accomplishment. Not individual. It's the same formula used by the 24-hour cable news cycle. #WashRinseRepeat. ... Speaking of staged conflict, if $800 million renovations to Camping World Stadium brings Orlando more Wrestlemanias, in the name of Ric Flair let 's walk that aisle and get it done. At least pro rasslin' is above board with its shenanigans.
